Personal Bio

Growing up I didn't really get into organized sport. I was involved in Speech and Drama and Choir more than anything else. I enjoyed biking and more than a few times I would ride the 35 miles to get to school just for fun, but nothing to compete in.

In 2006 I joined the Army Reserves and completed Basic Training, after graduating high school in 2007 I went active duty. After training I was stationed in Alaska where I exploded to almost 180 lbs. A year of constantly eating out and not working out enough to burn the excess food won't help anyone.

Following my deployment to Afghanistan in 2009-2010 I moved to Chicagoland, IL and began running, swimming and biking. Before I'd never been able to get my 2-mile time under 13:00 and soon I was running 12:04. It's been kinda limbo since then, with races here and there, not competing seriously, but seeing how fast I can go and meeting new people.

I blog to keep track of the stuff I do and to help show people new to the sport that anyone can do it!
